MV Research: Who Are The Target Audience For My Chosen Artist?

Typical member of the target audience:

This is Jake. He is a 17 year old male student who attended the sixth form at his school and is very academically inclined. He wants to do well at school so he uses all of his free periods to do homework so he has time at home to fully immerse himself in study. Jake makes sure he gets at least a full 4 hours of study for each subject in which he takes 4 and will drop one in year 13 (second year of sixth form). He likes to use his spare time to read and play games. He also makes sure he spends time with his friends and often goes to parties to get together with his group. At school Jake makes sure to take part in charity events as he cares for the less fortunate. He is often told he is more mature for his age than he should be and he reflects this in his music taste.

At school Jake's dress sense is rather business casual as that is what the dress code states but outside of school it is very different. Jake's typical dress sense revolves around jeans that are usually stretch skinny from a retail store like Burton or Topman. Either a Button up shirt or graphical t-shirt with comic character/logo on it. He doesn't wear trainer but is more likely to adopt a very smart shoe style. He wears glasses not because he needs them but for style more than practical use. He likes to attend gigs not concerts as he find gigs to be more casual; this is important as he gets anxious around large crowds. His music taste is alternative rock/pop although he doesn't mind some mainstream artists such as Ed Sheeran and David Guetta.

He has a part time job in H&M as he likes to socialise with strangers. He is very passionate about psychology as he loves to learn why people act the way they do in certain situations. He uses Snapchat mainly to talk to his friends but like to post statuses on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter just to let his friends have an insight on his life. He also uses Facebook to see what his friends are doing and makes sure to comment on their post so they know he shows an interest in their life

He primarily gets his music from iTunes but likes to use the app Spotify to stream music on the way to school and likes to listen to music whilst he is doing his studies. He dose not buy CD's but he has started to buy records as that is a trend that is coming back in fashion so he is doing it more for image than actual interest. He spends most of his income on games and clothes. Jake also saves his money up for gigs and makes sure to invite friends so they can all have a good time.
